Ovulation Induction and monitoring

1. Ovulation Induction and Monitoring

Ultrasound & hormone assessments are used to identify the most fertile time of the month. If the woman has dysovulatory cycles, fertility drugs are administered to stimulate egg production.


2. IUI (intra uterine insemination)

Performed on cases where the women have healthy fallopian tubes, IUI involves the deposition of treated sperm (prepared in the laboratory), from the husband, or donor into the uterus via the cervix. This procedure is generally painless & performed on an outpatient basis. Success increases if insemination is combined with ovulation induction using small doses of fertility drugs.

3. DI (Donor insemination)

Treatment used for men who have no sperm or poor quality sperm in their ejaculate. Sperm is used from frozen-thawed HIV free donor. This method is used if the men do not wish to use the ICSI option.


4. IVF-ET (In vitro fertilization and Embryo transfer)

The most effective treatment for women with absent, blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, unexplained infertility, endometriosis and PCO’s. The woman is given fertility (egg stimulation) drugs, eggs are collected via a vaginal procedure and fertilized with sperm in the laboratory. The Resultant embryos are then transferred to the uterus and extra good quality embryos are frozen for future use. This procedure is called cryopreservation.

5. Male Factor Infertility

Male infertility is the cause in 30-40% of couples experiencing infertility. It is attributed to various causes like Abnormal spermatogenesis, Reproductive tract obstruction or anomalies, Ejaculatory dysfunction, Impaired sperm motility and in around 40 %, no cause is found (Unexplained). Treatment plans vary according to count, motility and morphology parameters. Our Male factor treatment services include Microsurgical repair for obstructions, vasectomy reversals, IUI,  Surgical repair of varicocoels, male nutritional management, epidydimal /testicular sperm retrieval for use with ICSI.


6. ICSI (Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection)

ICSI is a lab procedure developed to help infertile couples undergoing IVF due to severe male factors infertility. ICSI involves the insertion of a single sperm into the cytoplasm of a mature egg (oocyte), using a special micro injection pipette.

After sperm injection into the egg, further culture and embryo transfer is as with the IVF cases. For patients with sub fertile sperm, this procedure is preferable to IVF.

ICSI is also used when sperm is retrieved directly from the testis / epidydimis in men with azoospermia.

7. Blastocyst culture and transfer

A blastocyst is an embryo that has developed after 5 days of fertilization. By this time, it has grown from a single cell to the final stage possible in-vitro.  A blastocyst has greater ability to implant. The  transfer of a blastocyst therefore gives you a higher chances for pregnancy. It is important to note, that many embryos die before reaching this stage and it is the doctors discretion whether blastocyst transfer is suitable for you.


8. Embryo cryopreservation

This procedure provides the ability to freeze and store extra good quality embryos made in an IVF or ICSI cycle for future use. This allows couples to achieve a pregnancy later, i.e when the fresh transfer fails or after the first birth. The process improves overall pregnancy rate because more transfers are done from a single cycle.



9. Operative laproscopy

A womans reproductive organs lie in her pelvis. There are many conditions that can effect the tubes, ovaries and the uterus which can cause infertility. Laproscopic surgery uses a minimally invasive technique under general anaesthesia to surgically correct the pathology involved. It is done as a day care procedure.


10. Operative hysteroscopy

The inside of a womans uterus has a special lining called the endometrium.

Infertility can be caused due to number of conditions that disrupt this endometrium. A hysteroscope is  introduced into the cavity under anaesthesia and can surgically correct endometrial polyps, fibroids, synechie to enhance fertility.


11. 3D/4D Ultrasound enhances infertility diagnosis

We use state of the art Volusan E8 machines, providing the most advanced 3D/4D ultrasound imaging available in the world today. At IIRC, scans are performed by an experienced team of skilled and licensed diagnostic sonographers. 3D/4D Ultrasound enhances infertility diagnosis in conditions like congenital uterine anomolies, endometriosis, ovarian tumors etc. Doppler studies on the male and female enhances prediction potential of fertility. We also provide patients to have the experience of an early bond with their unborn child using 3D/4D ultrasound.


12. Nutritional counseling

13. Emotional aspects and support

We believe in a holistic approach to your case and we are acutely aware that treatment of infertility is like an emotional roller coaster. In keeping with this approach we were the first in India to start Positive Fertility Foundation, Infertility support group in 1992. The counselors at IIRC along with Positive Fertility Foundation offer confidential counseling on every visit in our programme. We believe in providing sensitive care to the whole person.
